In 2006 one of our customers used our Rally Notes for Rally Tasmania and also Targa Tasmania.

In a subsequent event, the competitor (against advice received from a fellow competitor) elected to use someone else’s ‘notes, which meant in effect, that they had become familiar with a successful and proven system but would ignore the well founded advice and choose to “start again” with an unfamiliar set of course notes.

Unfortunately they crashed and failed to complete the event.

While we can speculate on an exact cause for the incident, we do know that our Rally Notes instruction for the bend at which the accident occurred, included a “Tightens”.

On the notes being used, “Tightens” or a similar instruction to identify the increased severity of the corner, was not included.
